I have a fancy glass Bodum spaghetti jar. Apart from holding pasta and looking European, it’s pretty useless:

When you invert the jar (or bag, if you don’t have one) to get the pasta out, some of it always drops through your hand and onto the floor. So you’re picking up the broken spaghetti off of a floor that might be kind of gross, so you rinse it. Except it just keeps breaking in your hands, and you end up with Rice-A-Roni.
So why not just measure + dispense pasta directly into the pot? Each compartment holds exactly one serving of pasta. Load it up with pasta, and when you’re ready to cook, just flip the bottom lid open over the pot of boiling water.
I guess it could use a shorter name.

This doesn’t solve leftover / measuring woes, but it does solve 2 sub-problems of inadequately measured pasta:

  1. Not enough sauce (eating dry pasta)
  2. Too much sauce (drinking chunky soup with bits of pasta).

And a bonus school lunch product that beats out pizza in the vegetable department:

At first I realized that having pasta in single-serving bags would be generating extra waste. So I went ahead and invented meltable, edible plastic with salt embedded in it. Boom.
